Workouts, Free Breakfast And Stable Area Tours  

 GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Wednesday, May 22, 2013) – Make plans to join us for the return of our popular Jockeys & Java program beginning Saturday, May 25 at 8:30 a.m. and continuing each Saturday through July 6, 2013.

Watch hundreds of horses as they go through their morning workouts and enjoy a delicious, free breakfast of a danish, breakfast burrito, coffee and juice in the Courtyard of Champions at Lone Star Park. 

Learn about what happens behind the scenes at Lone Star Park with Track Announcer John Lies, who will host the morning workouts and talk with special guests, including jockeys, trainers, industry professionals and some of the people that have the most important jobs at the racetrack.

Lies’ guests for the opening program on Saturday, May 25 at 9:00 a.m. will be jockey, Eswan Flores and apprentice jockey, Alfredo Sanchez Sigala. The interview will be followed by a Q&A session.

Following the workouts at 10:00 a.m., fans are invited to take a behind-the-scenes trip to the backstretch, visit a trainer’s barn and see the horses up close. Everyone in attendance will receive a Lone Star Track Pack with coupons for free general admission and a Lone Star Today racing program for live racing.

Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie, a Class I racetrack operated by Global Gaming Solutions LLC, offers a 50-day 2013 Spring Thoroughbred Season which opens Thursday, April 11 and concludes on Saturday, July 6. Live racing will be held four days a week, Thursday and Friday at 6:35 p.m. (except Thursday, May 30 when there will be no live racing), and Saturday and Sunday at 1:35 p.m. (except Sunday, June 23 and Sunday, June 30.) The racing program on Memorial Day, May 27, will start at 1:35 p.m. Special twilight programs will be held at 5 p.m. on both Wednesday, July 3 and Thursday, July 4 (Lone Stars & Stripes Fireworks Celebration). The track’s 26-day, 2013 Fall Meeting of Champions for American Quarter Horses will be held from Sept. 13 to Nov. 9. Lone Star Park is also home to the multi-million dollar simulcast racebook, sports bar and event venue, Bar & Book. The 36,000 square foot venue is open to the public 363 days a year.
